General
Along with the rapid development of the economy and the population growth of Vietnam as well as other countries in the world, the volume of domestic and production waste has increased significantly with the amount of waste generated in Vietnam. Nam doubled in less than 15 years (Worldbank). Meanwhile, current waste treatment activities are labor intensive and inefficient leading to high treatment costs and other serious environmental problems.
Above are the process of domestic waste treatment in Vietnam, it can be seen that this process often takes a lot of time for the waste to be sorted and completely treated. At the same time, the amount of emissions to the environment will increase when the layers are not closely linked with each other. Also, waste products in production do not have thorough treatment measures and bring many consequences to the environment as well as other economic sectors.
Waste for Vietnam Zerowaste
For us, waste is not only an environmental problem but also an economic waste. Existing waste sources can be converted into useful energy such as combustion fuel (RDF) for solid waste and fertilizer for crops for organic waste. Vietnam Zerowaste has successfully researched and applied RDF/SRF technology in turning production waste into an alternative source of raw materials for fossil fuels.
This new source of raw materials not only brings production efficiency close to fossils, but also helps reduce emissions when the amount of CO2 emitted is reduced by 70% compared to coal. Since then, waste has been converted into useful energy, helping to limit environmental impact and increase quality of life.
