Energy industries, such as the electricity industry, will have to increase production as demand for energy rises, resulting in increased fuel consumption. However, with increasing demand for energy, a lack of supply to meet demand has resulted in the status quo in many countries around the world in recent days – Energy Crisis. So, where does this come from, and what solutions must we devise?
REALITY
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the whole world economy to be greatly affected by most activities having to be suspended. At the present time, the economy is gradually recovering, businesses are gradually starting to operate with higher productivity to compensate for previous losses.
However, with the remaining effects of the pandemic and the current scarcity of energy supplies, the economic recovery is still difficult. Especially for European countries, China is facing challenges when it comes to energy crisis.
According to the EIA 2019 worldwide energy consumption report, the percentage of energy consumed will increase by 50% by 2050 (Figure 1).
CAUSES
Energy becomes scarce as a result of the following factors:
- The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic caused energy extraction and production activities to be suspended.
- The limitation and instability of combustion fuels: fossil fuels such as coal, if exploited and burned too much, will increase CO2 emissions; Renewable energy such as wind, hydroelectricity is difficult to predict in terms of volatility.
SOLUTION
Facing the current energy crisis, not only countries in the world but Vietnam also bear a part of the responsibility in actively providing solutions to solve global problems. Therefore, Vietnam Zero Waste with the mission of global greening, bringing emissions to zero, contributes a number of solutions as follows:
- Efficient use of energy: This is probably an inevitable solution at the moment and VNZ with steam conversion solutions with advanced and modern boiler technologies such as cogeneration can limit emissions while still providing energy efficiency. efficient power supply.
- Using fuels that are environmentally friendly and more sustainable: Vietnam Zero Waste prioritizes using Biomass as the main fuel to replace fossil fuels in order to fully meet the supply for customers and ensure limited emission supply.
